Spider Barbour, songwriter

Spider Barbour has been writing songs since he was in grade school. He's played in bands in high school, college and beyond, into the present time. Barbour's music remains unfamiliar to most listeners. His closest brush with fame was as the leader of Chrysalis, a band that released one album ("Definition") in 1968 on MGM records. In 1981 Spider's band Imago independently released a vinyl LP, "Especially for You to Play" (copies are still available from the artist). In 1997 Loki Records issued "I Hear a Dog" by another Barbour-led band, the Curmudgeons (available on-line at CD Baby). A handful of rabid fans (and their dogs) still await a second official release. A few bootlegs exist of live performances and recordings made in remote backwoods studios.

In summer 2004 Barbour began recording solo at Tom Mark's Make Believe Ballroom Studio in West Shokan, New York. Selections from these sessions are the first music downloads from Spiraclemusic.com.

Expect more from Chrysalis, the Curmudgeons, Spider Barbour and associates as we continue to develop this site.
